Two major events are occurring in Canada presently – the Federal Election which will elect a NEW Prime Minister come October 19th (all fingers crossed) and the Blue Jays present bid to become ALDS Champs which will move them one step closer to playing in the World Series. I am a true blue baseball fan especially when playoff time arrives and I am definitely a voter.
This is a very exciting time for us Canadians. It’s been 22 years since the Blue Jays won the World Series which I remember watching with heart on sleeve pint of beer in hand…and it’s been ten years of Stephen Harper’s “dictatorship” that has seen our country’s good name drown here at home and upon the world stage. I barely recognize this country anymore. It is time for change and
I guess you could say this is one helluva’n October we’re not likely to forget.
Standing in line yesterday at the advance polls awaiting patiently my time to exercise my right to choose, I became a little verklempt. I am an emotional creature, yes. But when I consider there are people in this world dying for the right to practice democracy, this knowledge drives the point home that I am truly privileged and lucky to be have been born in a free country. I have a burning, passionate desire for change on the political front. It’s time Harper became a name of the past. #heavesteve is a popular hashtag I use faithfully. I believe, I KNOW I am not the only one who feels this way. In fact the voter numbers from the advance polls shows an increase of 34% over Election2011 and a 90% increase over Election2008. I can’t help but feel this is due to a massive burning desire felt all across this beautiful country of ours to #heavesteve!! I have never felt as invested in an election as I do now. Hence the emotional me standing in line waiting to vote yesterday.
And if that weren’t enough, I also watched game 4 of the ALDS playoffs while eating my Thanksgiving dinner beside my handsome hubby whom I deeply adore. AND. THEY. WON! 8-4 over the Texas Rangers #thisishowwedoit. They were down 2 games going into game 3 in Texas Sunday to play do or die. They came back big time winning the next two games to secure the 5th and final one of this series back here in Toronto. Tomorrow. When they win. This city will erupt with the likes of which have not been seen and heard in almost a quarter of a century. Yep. I’m damn excited. I’m thinkin’ the same can be said to occur nationally next Monday October 19th when we attend Harper’s going away party. I am going to stick my tongue out at Steve, jump up and down and clap my hands like a little child. Oh and do my happy dance. And most likely cry lol.
In other news a lovely ladybug flew in for a brief visit Sunday afternoon…
I’m also on a week off from classes to study for midterms next week. I have four in total. Three written and one oral practical exam where I have to show the examiners all the massage techniques I’ve learned in proper sequence. A little nervous about that. Wish me luck!
Until next time…
Peace, love & light,
